Soundminer v7.0 is a major release focused on faster sound discovery, deeper creative workflows, and tighter connections between Soundminer, Radium, third-party plug-ins, and supported DAWs.

The centrepiece is our Soundminer Similarity Engine: a new collection of tools that finds sounds by listening to their audio character rather than relying only on filenames or metadata. It powers the new Galaxy visual browser in Pro, expands similarity searching throughout Soundminer Plus, and creates new ways to move from a seed sound to an edited, processed, and spotted result.

We took the time to get it right! - This isn’t some off the shelf thing: The model has been trained from scratch for more than a year from an array of sources designed for professional sound applications. The Similarity engine can be found starting in our Plus product while in Pro you additionally get our new Galaxy visualization interface. But it doesn’t just stop at a new Similarity engine. There are scores of improvements and additions to our already highly regarded V6 line.

This release also introduces the Mini Sampler(Plus and Pro), substantially expands Radium, adds new built-in effects, improves plug-in hosting, and provides new ways for Pro Tools, Reaper, and compatible AI assistants to work directly with Soundminer.

• Spectrograms, loudness analysis, and transcription improvements provide more ways to understand and search a library.
• Broad workflow and stability improvements make browsing, playback, transfers, plug-in hosting, and Windows operation more reliable.

Free Similarity Crawler Utility - Building your Similarity map can take time on large libraries, so we've created a free utility called the Similarity Crawler. This offloads what could be a time consuming process to another application in the background or another station while you continue to work. 

You can prepare large libraries while showing progress and useful status information, you can pause and resume work on missing similarity information, build similarity data for a selected group of files and keep similarity information associated with the library and supported audio metadata.  And when done, you simply apply it to your application. This is ideal for people sharing content on a network as it separately complete the process while everyone works. When complete, just add it to your workstation and go.

*While V7 Basic does not get any of the Similarity additions, it does get a number of the base improvements, support for Pro Tools Scripting SDK, and the addition of Playlists.

No special migration or rebuild procedure is required when upgrading to v7.0. V6 databases can be read and used by V7.
